My name is Claire Thomas. I’m a senior at Shawnee Mission South, and I’m spending six weeks of my summer in Kazan, Russia. I get to live with a host family, study Russian for 4 hours every day at a university, and experience some real Russian culture. There are 17 other teenagers going to Kazan with me, and around 50 or 60 people going to Russia altogether. I love language and culture, which is the main reason I’m spending most of my summer in a foreign country.
